Rotary Induction, Laurel Ridge Country Club, Waynesville, NC.
June 25th, 2008 Categories: Community, Videos and Slideshows
Last night I attended the induction ceremony for the new officers of the Rotary Club of Waynesville, of which I am a member. Cecil Yount is our new President. You may notice him in the photos (he is the one with the sweet tea and no hair)!
The ceremony was held at the beautiful Laurel Ridge Country Club in Waynesville. There were over 100 people in attendance, including Rotarians Brig. General W. Thomas Meredith, pictured with Rick Smith, Realtor (828.400.5119). Also pictured are Lyn Donley, Billy and Karen Case, and your’s truly, Susie Blackmon, Bloggess/Realtor.
It is an honor to be acquainted with Brig. General W. Thomas Meredith, and I love his philosophy (and the title of his book…) “Lead, Follow or Get the Hell Out of the Way.” Not to mention… I love men in uniform!

Want to Recycle Your WNC Mountain Home?
June 24th, 2008 Categories: Videos and Slideshows
Love this concept… you can do the ‘green thing’ and downsize at the same time (cut your house in half!). What do you think? Ready to pick up a ‘purple caterpillar‘ and start digging?

Ten Tips for Staging Your Home to Sell.
June 16th, 2008 Categories: Videos and Slideshows
The abundance of homes on the market in Haywood County means that Sellers need to do everything possible to set their home apart, and present it to its best advantage. Pricing is the most important consideration. Think 2005 - 2006 pricing. Curb appeal and inside appeal come next. Here are ten tips and another good staging video to help get your home in ready-to-show shape.
1. Get rid of any excess furniture.
2. Get rid of clutter; pack up accessories and valuables.
3. Open windows to freshen the air.
4. Towels and rugs should be in excellent condition, if not new.
5. Bake bread, or cookies before a showing! Vanilla or eucalyptus fragrances.
6. Open drapes, curtains and blinds, and make sure your windows and screens are clean.
7. Leave lights on.
8. Fresh flowers add a nice touch.
9. Trim bushes and grass.
10. Make sure your home is very clean.

Picturing the Elk in Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
May 30th, 2008 Categories: Things to Do, Videos and Slideshows
A 20 to 30 minute drive from Maggie Valley, NC down 276 (”J Creek”), depending on your speed, will bring you into the midst of the beautiful Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Even on a rainy day, the Park offers spectacular sights to behold. Lucky for me, Bob Grytten took his photography rookies to the Park this past Wednesday!
