Haywood Regional Medical Center in NC is in need of its own emergency services.

Monday’s Haywood County Commission meeting in downtown Waynesville, NC was quite well attended by members of the community due to the recent somewhat devastating, but hopefully temporary, cessation of Medicaid and Medicare Federal certification; i.e., funding, as well as the subsequent departure of Blue Cross/Blue Shield at the Haywood Regional Medical Center.
Interim HRMC CEO Al Byers, and Dr. Kate Fenner, CEO of Compass Group (pictured here), in the throes of implementing a ‘recovery plan,’ were the first to address the County Commissioners and the members of the general public in attendance.
According to a very recent article in the Citizen-Times:
“Staff at Haywood Regional Medical Center made mistakes in administering medicine in more than half of the cases surveyed by inspectors and feared punishment if they reported errors, according to a federal report made public today.”
Pictured to the right, during the Commissioners’ meeting yesterday morning, are Commissioner Mary Ann Enloe and Commissioner Bill L. Upton.
